The Rotterdam Urban Vision describes the urban development strategy for the City of Rotterdam up to 2030, its objectives being to create a strong economy and an attractive residential city. Projects which contribute to the economy and make Rotterdam more appealing as a residential city have been given the status of VIPs (Very Important Projects).
13 VIPs are mentioned in the Rotterdam Urban Vision, one of which is CityPorts. CityPorts is seen as an experimental area for new discoveries, with an innovative approach to the environment and building outside the dykes. Around 400 million Euros will be invested in the project up to 2010. CityPorts aims to increase the number of available jobs and workspaces and provide new housing in the area.
