Wubbo Ockels comes to the RDM site
Wubbo Ockels' innovative energy project for ships is to be launched at the RDM site in Heijplaat, with the help of Rotterdam City Council. Rotterdam has made € 1 million available for building the demonstration model Laddermillship. This innovative project is based on using the tractive power of kites to drive ships with wind energy.
Laddermillship fits perfectly with Rotterdam's ambition to create an attractive location for innovative, energy-related activity. In years to come, Rotterdam wants to become a low-CO2 city and energy port, producing and using energy in a sustainable and efficient way. The Rotterdam Energy and Climate Program (RECP) will enable the city to reduce its CO2 emissions by 2025 to 50 percent of what they were in 1990.
