CityPorts Rotterdam Facts & Figures

CityPorts Rotterdam has a special status, as it is one of the VIP projects in the Rotterdam City Vision.

CityPorts Rotterdam has a double objective:

  • to reinforce the economic structure of Rotterdam as a transport hub and
  • to encourage residential and commercial development in the Rotterdam region.

It has also repeatedly emphasised its ambition to produce a result which is greater than the sum of its parts (or districts), which it has set out in a coordinated vision.

The total area of the project covers 1600 hectares, which is divided into four districts:

  • Rijnhaven-Maashaven
  • Vierhavens-Merwehaven
  • Waalhaven-Eemhaven
  • The RDM site.

A coordination group has been set up for each district and is primarily responsibility for its development. The first two districts have been assigned to the OBR (Rotterdam Development Company), and the last two are being developed by the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
