Merwehaven/Vierhavens

Plans for the redevelopment of Vierhavens East are already underway. The former goods railway yard in Vierhavenstraat is to become a business strip, with a rooftop park linking to the old neighbouring districts of Bospolder and Tussendijken.

Most of the docks in Merwehaven and Vierhavens are still functioning as a fruitport, where large volumes of fruit, vegetables and fruit juice are brought in by ship for further distribution by road. The Merwehaven is mainly used for the transhipment of fruit and vegetables, while Vierhavens specialises in transhipment and processing of fruit juice.

Most of the urban redevelopment of the Merwehaven is programmed to begin after 2020 and of Vierhavens after 2030.
